Michael Peter Pete Livesey (1943-1998)
He invented Climbing As We Know It.
Rangy, muscular iconoclast Livesey plotted his October Revolution of rock
climbing in cunningly unobtrusive Lincolnshire. From a primitive brickwork
climbing wall in Scunthorpe he applied the obsessive training ethics of
professional athletics to the hitherto happy-go-lucky, lets-train-in-the-pub
arena of rock climbing.
